Biography of Connie Bouvia, Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services
Connie Bouvia serves as the Deputy Chief of the California Department of Consumer Affairs' Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, helping to manage the agency's consumer protection, licensing and enforcement regulation of the private security industry. Ms. Bouvia has served California consumers since 1979. In 1987, Ms. Bouvia started her career in Enforcement with the Contractors State License Board as an investigator. Ms. Bouvia was instrumental in establishing the Application Investigation Unit, providing statewide training for the Enforcement staff and developing procedures to process complaints submitted via the internet. The Contractors State License Board processes more than 20,000 complaints each year, Ms. Bouvia lead her staff to eliminate all aged complaints. Ms. Bouvia is a member of the interdependent Process Improvement Team (PIT) that serves as the Department of Consumer Affair’s main resource for planning, developing, evaluating, and prioritizing process improvement initiatives with Department-wide impact.
