Members Sought for Advisory Committee
on Proprietary Security Officer Training


The Bureau of Security and Investigative Services is assembling a specialized Advisory Committee to develop a training curriculum for Proprietary Private Security Officers (PSO). The committee was authorized by Chapter 721 of the Statutes of 2007 (SB 666) and will develop a curriculum that features skills, courses and a minimum number of hours of instruction appropriate to a proprietary private security officer's worksite or industry. The committee will be comprised of security directors at proprietary facilities such as sports or entertainment complexes, retail stores, and restaurants, labor organizations representing security officers, law enforcement representatives, representatives of the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, subject matter experts, and other interested parties.

Please note that the advisory committee may not include any representation from private patrol operators, or any trade association representing private patrol operators or security guards or officers. (See Business & Professions Code, § 7574.5(c).)
