Photo Identification Cards for Security Guards
The Bureau of Security and Investigative Services has partnered with Psychological Services Industries (PSI) to issue photo identification cards for Security Guards.
The photo identification card is optional and is not required by law.
Security Guards must contact PSI at (877) 392-6422 to schedule a photo appointment at any one of PSI California centers. The Security Guard Photo Identification Card's cost is $5 and is paid directly to PSI. This fee is in addition to the existing Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) registration fees.
Security Guards who schedule appointments for photographs must present a government-issued photo identification card. Acceptable photo identification cards are:
- An unexpired State Driver License.
- An unexpired State Identification Card.
- A current U.S. military-issued identification card.
- A valid passport issued within the last five years.
Note: Photograph fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable. If you miss your appointment, fail to present valid identification, or fail to reschedule at least one business day prior to your scheduled appointment, your photograph fee will be forfeited. However, this fee may be applied toward a future photo license appointment, if eligible.
If you have any technical questions or general inquiries that PSI cannot respond to, please contact the bureau at (916) 322-4000.
