Applicant Requirements

Industry Member: Applicants for an industry position must hold a current and clear license type relating to the industry position or be a member of an association relating to the Bureau-regulated license type.

Public Member: Desirable individuals possess a background in consumer protection/advocacy or law enforcement; they are involved with the businesses who contract with Bureau licensees for services; or they are involved in associations relating to the businesses.

Role of Committee Members

Committee members provide professional and technical assistance to the Bureau including:

  • Perspectives on issues affecting private security consumers and industries;
  • Outreach to the public/consumers, licensees, registrants, and the industry on private security issues; and
  • Viewpoints on the legislative, regulatory and policy efforts impacting private security industries.

Terms of Appointment

The Director of the Department of Consumer Affairs appoints members to serve two-year terms. However, at the discretion of the Director, a member may be reappointed to another term.
